How do I assemble a flute?

Start by holding the flute by its solid body sections, avoiding the keys. Gently twist the headjoint and footjoint into place rather than pushing straight on. Line up the lip plate with the centre of the main keys for proper playing position.

Never grip the instrument by the keywork or use force - that’s one of the fastest ways to cause misalignment.
