How do I clean a clarinet after playing?

Keeping your clarinet clean is one of the easiest ways to make sure it stays in great shape and sounds its best. After each playing session, use a pull-through or swab to remove any moisture from inside the body of the instrument. Take care around the pads - they’re delicate, and excess water can cause them to stick.

If your clarinet has a removable mouthpiece, it’s a good idea to clean it separately with lukewarm water and a soft cloth (never hot water - that can warp the material).

This simple routine helps prevent build-up, protects the keywork, and keeps your clarinet ready for its next rehearsal.
