Curriculum Music Conference 2022
“It’s great to see everyone in person again” was the feeling at this year’s Curriculum Music Conference held at the Midlands Art Centre in Birmingham.
During the day various sessions were held and it was an opportunity to hear from specialists in music education, discuss new strategies and opportunities and as always, share good practice.
The day started by listening to and playing with musical genres from around the world whilst looking at new teaching resources.
During the day the pInstrument family of instruments was available for people to browse, along with some of our Warwick Music publications. It was great to see one of our composers Kay Charlton there who was presenting at one of the sessions.
The conference concluded with an interactive session about learning about brass playing through pop music and pBuzz. Led by my colleague Chris, delegates were able to play a pBuzz whilst sampling some of our new pBuzz resources.
For some teachers this was their first experience of playing a pBuzz and learning about the fantastic range of resources we have with comments like “I’ve never played brass before….. It was easier than I thought.”
Whilst a small conference, it provided the opportunity to network and share our experiences both in and out of the classroom setting over the past few years and how we, as music educators, are positively looking ahead to supporting music in the classroom.
